Thursday, July 31st to Saturday, August 2ndOur last meeting of the Folk School Alliance occurred in 2018 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The two days we spent together in 2018 had a significant impact on the projects we worked on together over that last seven years. From the weekly to bi-weekly CoP meetings during the initial months of the COVID shutdown, to the mini-documentaries we produced in 2021, and the Folk Education Network project that is winding down this year. We've done so much! Let's join together again to re-invigorate our partnerships and continue advancing the practices of folk schooling and folk education. From July 31st to August 2nd we will gather at Folklore Village in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. This event will place educators, craft entrepreneurs, folk school staff, community organizers, folklorists, and researchers together for a long weekend of connection, program development workshops, seminars, craft, song, dance, and conversation about the future of folk education in America. Join us!
| Art by Zoe Klosterwill "Stick your finger down into the ground and smell where you are! This is where the needs of the people are found, which can be different in different times and places. Where this meets the abilities of the teacher, there lies the folk school’s calling.” - Ludwig Schroder, 1872 |
